I now wish for longer day.

Works has been killing me despite my numerous visits to unknown retail outlets to kill my stress level and 'kepala otak yang miung'.

Like yesterday, it was Khazin 1st birthday. I was stranded in Sha*h Ala*m till 2pm. En route balik ke office for another workshop, I 'tersinggah' at Munawarrah. Went out with handsome number of tudung and wearing one already today. Well, still managed to reach office on time for the workshop and managed to squeze the time to express my milk and pray in between breaks.

Reached home on time, get ready and we were out for birthday dinner at TGIF. Oh boy, Khazin did had fun. He ate his fried mac and cheese a lot, and its funny how he wanna indulge in the mini dessert. TGIF staffs sang the birthday song and Khazin was kind of stunned. Boy, he did had fun I bet.

As of today, I was so stressed that I need to attend to this one user in town. Sekali tgk, it was done very fast. Small problem which was not properly conveyed. To kill the time, I got myself lost in Gardens. Well, whats new with me. Balik dgn hati yang gembira.

This evening, in midst meeting, run to the kindy. Witness Khilfi finally cut his delayed cake cutting thingy at the school. The boy demanded why no cake cutting yet as his birthday was pass due a month a go. Ok ok, blame your busy mom. So, my precious 10 minutes just now really makes his day I bet.

And now, i am writing this very fast. My workshop thingy slides are still pending. And it kind of melts my heart to leave the boys(hubby included) behind for a 2 days 1 night workshop starting tomorrow. Bengang ok!

SO my next update will be from PD kot peeps. See ya!

2008 perfomance

Monday, March 23, 2009 8 comments

Nothing beats the happiness and my deepest thanx and greatful for such a wonderful news.

The Co. released its performance appraisal result for the year of 2008 and Big B announcement last Friday.

And alhamdulillah, despite all the dirty politick"ing" and all the upside down I have to endure last year due to few restructuring, I reached my target again this year. Takdelah full scale, same as last year but its surely will bring a deep joy for me. And to know my name has been submitted for the assessment also is a big joy.

Syukur ya allah.

And despite all the recession talks, people losing jobs and all, here I am still able to get something.

To my families, for you all I owe this and I am where I am now for all your prayers and good thoughts.

Toodles.

I won!

Supposed nak berfoya-foya di bandaraya KL yang tercinta. Sekali, si suami buat ayat best, apa kata kita ke IKEA? just to check out the hype of the sale.

Well, perkataan IKEA itu mmg berhantu dlm isi rumah suami isteri ittew.

True enuff, kalau ke IKEA kunjungan akan berpanjangan ke AUSSINO dan juga MACY.

Dah. Semalam jugak 2/3 keuntungan menjual ES*OS dah disedekah ke 3 outlet berkenaan.

Selamat bawak balik 4 biji bantal, 2 big bag of bedsheets and quilts, console side cabinet, beddinge new cover set, ribba frames and pictures..and the lists are endless.

Jadi, annivessary ni, kiter gateway kat KL jelah k. A night stay kat mana-manala. :P kita simpan niat cuti-cuti Asia kita itu yer...

Tapi yang penting, suami isteri ini, happy sangat sbb melihat barang2 tersebut cantik terletak ajer kat rumah malam semalam. :P

Tips to Hong Kong Part Deux

Monday, March 16, 2009 5 comments

The tips continued. Read the disclaimer here before proceeding.

3) FOOD

Its not that hard to get Halal food in HK actually. There will be some pakistani or Arab men distributing brochure if they see muslim in hijab. Along TST areas there are abundant. I've downloaded from Zaibah.com all halal restaurant lists in HK. But I only managed to try 3 outlets. 1) Shadowman Cafe in Ashley Road right behind of our hotel. 2) Popeyes restaurant in HK Airport 3) Seafood beriani at Food Republic, Citygate outlet. And not forgetting various trips to get Fillet O fish and fries at Mc Donalds. Other than that we survived on our own cooked food and various types of sandwiches.

We came to HK with 2 medium size rice cooker and 1 small size rice cooker. We allocated each bag like 1/4 -1/2 portion with food stuffs. You name it, we bought along all those curry, kurma, rendang in tins. Tuna, sardin, Baked beans, jams, kaya, nutella, peanut butter, soy sauce, chili sauce even cooking oil. We also bring the usual beras enough for daily cook and nasi goreng some more. Mushrooms in tin, vono mushrooms soup, maggie and what not, perencah tomyam and chicken cube. All 3 in 1 of milo and nescaffe too. Bought plastic plates and tupperware and warmer tumbler to pack for porridge for the kids.

We cook every night for proper rice and accompanying lauk pauk using the rice cooker. 1 cooker for rice and another one to reheat main dishes from the can and we fried egg/veggies as well. On alternate days we go for fresh meat to cook soup or tomyam ok. All for the basic of survival that we gain from living in the hostel. Those are the days. We even had spaggetti carbonara for one brekkie. It work wonders.

We bought halal fresh meat, eggs and veggies from a wet market on Haiphong Road, exactly next before Kowloon Mosque. You have to walk straight over a bridge and the market is on your left. It opens from 730am to 830pm. The veggies are very fresh and eggs are dirt cheap. We prepare porridge for the kids for their bekal in morning and noon. N at night they will take rice and veggie soup. Easy right.

So far we survive. Hotel takde complaint pun and all stock lepas keluar masuk airport. When you go in such a big group its going to be very costly to eat out everyday. One decent halal meal will cost u about HKD50-60/plate. Tak pening. That doesnt include the drinks. We were told there's no halal bread in HK. So we went to Hk carrying  2 big paper bag containing 8 big loaf of gardenia bread, butter, yogurt and cheese. By end of day 4 all licins. Ouch! Thank God, with the help of Bad and Azam who are staying in HK we do found a halal bread. Its sell in Express 24 hours shop behind ourr hotel. Its in blue plastic. its purely soya bread and clearly stated no lard inside.

But, that is our story. You are welcome to try all outlets there and venture in. Their beriyani sedap ok. MC D set is at HKD24 each. Tapi tak tahan makan mc d after 2-3 hours dah lapar. Tension tak. NOrmally we had sandwiches, baked beans and egg for brekkie. We also tapau some sandwiches/nasi goreng for lunch and had MC D kalau lapar jugak. By 6 we are back at the hotel. A quick maggi with soup ker apa ker will be prepared. By 9 we had proper dinner. Thats how we managed. I think that's kind of explain it.

4) GETTING AROUND in DISNEYLAND

Its a great place. We spend 1 1/2 day in disney. When we arrived, we stayed until it closed to witness the firework show. It goes around everyday starting at 730pm. The parks are not as big as other disney even I think Movie World in Goild coast is bigger. but it suits Khilfi's need. Even Khazin get to enjoy many rides too.

You should get on everything. We covers everything. Thank God it is not peak time, so we dun even have to wait more than 5 minutes for each except for one time I have to que foir 15 minutes just to fulfill Khilfi's wish to ride a Honda car in Tomorrowland. The parade is happening at 330pm daily. Mark that.

The shuttle is available every 10 minutes to transfer you to-from the park and disney. So you can easily go back to your hotel to freshen up or what. But we did not. We just stayed inside the park until dark. Seriously it was so much fun. I did enjoy it. If there's a reason to go back to HK, it must be Disneyland for me.

If you choose not to stay in the disney hotel, a stayed in city hotel will also be ok. You can save more money and take MTR to go to DIsney. Its only less than HKD30 per return ticket per head. The hotel is way cheaper i bet. But i truly wanna give that Mickey experience to my son who is head over heel on it. Thats why we push it for the disney hotel still.

Well, I shall be writing again later. Nak pi miting sat.

I am not a DIY person. Sometimes I do have the ideas but it often get buried under the carpet sbb akak keras tangan. But thank God to my power of buying, I opt to buy or paksa a fren to do it for me. One of them is Maya.
After she was force to made my tote bag, I paksa her to made me another one. And now she is giving away free gift. And it was gorgeous as ever. I always like her creation. I gave some gifts for my niece and a good fren an embroidery shirts Made by Maya. She sew a very nice dresses too. And look at these..

Its gorgeous kan..
Elman and Melly, pick me up pls...

Tips to Hong Kong part 1

Saturday, March 14, 2009 9 comments

I am writing this based on my personal opinion. No professional advise nor agent has paid me to do so or consulted to write this. Please be aware of it and its all based on my observation. I am a normal human being as well ok.

As promised earlier, I will write on some tips and survival in Hong Kong.

Before we left for the trip, I am totally clueless. I've consulted few friends who has been to HK and get help from a malaysian who stayed in HK and also obviously the heaven of internet overload. But I still could not see clearly on what to expect to be in HK for a week with such a big group. Well, at last we just MAIN REDAH ajelah. No travel agent or whatever has involved except for the visa to china.

*HKD100 is about RM48 when we were there. So do your own conversion ok.

So, here it goes.

1) HOTEL

I've booked all the rooms via PYO Travel. I've checked and compared the rate with so many other websites like wotif.com, agoda.com and asiarooms.com and PYO travel seems to give the best rate to me. The booking only done 5 days before we left. Truly a last minute person. We got 2 rooms at Disney hotel at about RM480/nite. Disney hotel allow 4 adults to be in the 1 room. No charges for infants or kids sharing bed with parents or under 12 yrs old. So, we got 2 rooms in Disney.

The city hotel, we chose Kowloon Hotel, Nathan Road. Stick to Nathan road hotel and preferably in the area of Tsim Sha Tsui(TST). Altho there's many more hotel around that area but Kowloon hotel is located right on the MTR TST Station. More about MTR later. The only downside of this hotel is very small room. I knew about is as I already compared with other hotel, but we still choose it as we want the location and after all we are not going to be in the hotel all day long. The rates for this hotel varies everyday but on average it is about RM420/nite. For this time, we've book 3 rooms and thank god we were upgraded to Executive floor and got a room next to each other.

2) TRANSPORTATION

How to move in such a big group? I am so concern about this. But alhamdulillah. It run with no hiccups at all. Mind u, we have 2 infants and 1 dramatic boy in the group. We have 2 strollers with us all the time. But I give HK a big 2 thumbs up for its efficient and effective public transporation services. We have tried the cab, bus, MTR and also ferry. None dissapoint us at all.

The cab was spacious. It can fit in 5 adults at one go. So, we just need 2 cabs. We used the cab from airport to Disney. Then from Disney hotel to Kowlon hotel in the city for less than HKD200. Then from the city to airport for only about KHD140 if I am not mistaken. you can always opt for Airport express bus or MTR where the fare is about HKD80-90 per person. But since we are in a big group cab seems to be wiser. The cab is old but very well maintained, clean and all with air condition. No smelly stuffs and all. Thats why i said its great.

Next, its the MTR. As i mention above, Kowloon hotel is very strategically located. Imagine KLCC. That is how i should label that hotel. The MTR is right kat bawah hotel tuh. But yes, the entrance to the station scattered like every 30 degree from each location of the hotel. So bacially you can enter the TST MTR station from every angle of the building surrounding kowloon hotel. It just that you need to walk lil bit to get to the station itself. Be alert of your exit. It has many exit from A-L sometimes. Just be sure where you supposed to go out. Like when u are in KLCC you can exit via Isetan, Coach shop, LV boutique or you can use the Twin tower exit. Things like that. But the ultimate one is the exit direct to our hotel. The TST Mtr also is linked direct to the East rail, the one that we took to Shenzhen. So, thats how easy it was. Its only about 35 minutes journey from our hotel using the MTR.

You can buy your ticket from the machine using HKD note or if no machine note, you cna change your dollars at customer service station very convinient. Takde reason macam machine rosak ker, takde duit kecik ker or what. Senang banget. Just ensure where is your stop and all. We basically used MTR daily to go to most of the places of interests that we visited. That will be a separate entry.

Just some important point:-

1) The escalator at the MTR is very steep and very fast. SO be ready and always hold the rail. Ensure you grip it nicely and hold to your kids very dear.
2) The interchange station is within the line itself. The MTR runs in the same railway track. Bukan like KL where you have to exit go out and get into another station. Very easy. So no worry of kena hujan panas and all. Just be alert where you should change your line. We epxerience this when we are heading to Ngong Ping.
3) train dier panjang giller bukan 4 gerabak ajer macam LRT and goes very fast ala2 ERL. Syok.

Next, the buses. Be alert, the buses are way way BETTER than the one in KL. My maximum waiting time is only 5 minutes. It has regular schedule even to outskirt area. We purposely took the buses to longer route so we can view the city and island. One thing, to get into the bus, it based purely on trust. You pay for the ticket into the slot machine. NO change will be given. Since we are many, sometimes we pay more like HKD2-4 or sometimes we pay less. But the bus driver said its ok. Depa pun malas nak kire janji almost exact. Like one time we were supposed to pay HKD102 for all of us. We only have HKD110 no coins at all. So the driver said its ok just give HKD100. Things like that. But i think bus drebar tuh dah pening. kakakakkaak.

Just note, u need to fold for the stroller when you enter the bus. So be ready. I would recommend you to buy Octopus card, something like Touch N go if u wanna avoid the hassle to get ready with money everytime you wanna get onto their public transport. It linked to all buses and MTR. Yu can always top up and when you wanna go back, you can get ur deposit refund. I think its HKD50 for each card. But we didnt use it sbb we all mmg gatal nak kalut2 beli tiket. kakakakakak.

Just check with the hotel or local people your bus number and where you should be waiting for your bus and the fare so you can be ready with everything. Enjoy your ride. The bus is very confortable.

Next, the ferry. We use it one time to go back from HK island(central) to TST. Its only cost us HKD2/person. It is a great ride, tak rasa mabuk at all. Best banget. Just ensure you get your jetty ride. We took it on our way back from The Peak/Madamme Tassaud to TST.

Hope this helps.

3. WEATHER

Checked out before hand the estimated weather forecast. It was cold when we were there. On average of 16-21degree. And it goes down to something like 12 degree when we where at Peak, Stanley and Ngong Ping, So be ready with jacket and sweaters. The kids all in tact with socks and legging inside just to avoid any bug catched us.

Ok, to be continued more later. I shall blog about the food and the places of interests.

Toodles.

Post Hong Kong Trip (itinerary)

Thursday, March 12, 2009 16 comments

**A very long post and big file picture...**

Oh its really good to be back even we did had a blast colouring the town red in HK but its definitely good to be out of living in the box.

I will divide my entries into few updates. For this first update is purely my itinerary/travelogue trip for 7 days 6 night trip to Hong kong. As it can be a guide to all people out there too. Ramai rupanya nak ke HK since I got few emails asking for tips and iternary once I got back. I will also update on the transport, hotel, places of interest, city, survival, food and tips in seperate entries.

Our trip is purely jalan-jalan trip. No major damages had happened. I am a good girl. :P
Kindly note that we are travelling with the corums of 7 adults, 1 kids and 2 infants. So whatever tips and survivor kits are to suit our needs.

Day 1(4th March)
  • Depart from KLIA at 915am and reached CKG, HKG ard 1230pm.
  • We took the cab to Disney Hollywood hotel. Very easy. HKD150/cab (RM70)
  • Hotel all grande. Each room suits 4 adults and comes with 2 double bed. So we only took 2 rooms ensuite with connecting doors. The kids are having marvellous time.
  • Lunch with food stuffs from KL(nasi goreng and meehoon)
  • As we stayed in Disney we are entitled for the promo 'stay for 2 days with only 1 day entrance ticket'.
  • So, as ard 330pm we are all in Disneyland untill the fireworks end at 730pm.
  • Dinner, we cooked rice and had chicken kurma and serunding for dinner.
Day 2(5th March)
  • Breakfast with sandwiches
  • Checked out hotel at 10am, bags are left at concierge
  • 1030am-straight away at the Park. There's a shuttle from hotel every 10 minutes so very convinient.
  • We had lunch in one of the restaurant fish and chips. It rains but we still sruvived with whatever kain and plastics that we have to ride any ride and play all the games.
  • Late evening around 5 pm, we left the park and back to the hotel. Took the bags and get a cab to town.
  • Reached Kowloon Hotel, Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Shui 30 mins later. Put out bag, rooms very small. but its fine as the hotel is just VERY STRATEGICALLY Located. The MTR station basically is underground of our hotel. Very easy, get down 2 floor down from the lobby and woila the train station itself.
  • After unpacked and refreshed ourselves we move around on foot, just to see what is the shops and whereabout surrounding us. Kedai esprit outlet, giordano, bossini bersepah-sepah. And not forgetting I am surrounded by Dior, LV, Hermes, Chanel, Bally and Burberry boutique as well.
  • Had early dinner and just lepaking around ajer.
Day 3(6th march)
  • With the help from one Malaysian staying in HK, Azam, we managed to locate the wet market and we found a halal meat shop and veggies stall. We stroll down to Haiphong road, next to Kowloon mosque only 2 blocks down from our hotel. Got veggies, egg, chicken and macam2 lagi. Keep it in the hotel fridge.
  • Then, straight away to the MTR from TST to Mongkok. The hunt to Ladies Market begin.
  • When we reached, they just about to set up the place and its raining. So we went to fortress mall, scouting for whatever stuffs. These area are famous for branded electrical goods and also shoes. But i still feel it is not as good like KL during it sale. We spend quite a fortune buying stuffs for the kids at Espirit and Bossini. Good deal giller.
  • We had early lunch in Mc D. You can have its Fillet o fish and fries, certified halal by HK islamic board. Then, Khazin fall asleep and I went nuts at ladies market. Bought tonnes of souvenir, fridge magnet, HK tshirt (make sure to bargain at least 5 shirt for HKD100).
  • You can basically everything here. More update on Ladies market on next entry.
  • We only done close to Magrib. Cepat2 balik hotel nak solat. And resting.
  • Around 7, we walked throught the subway and crossed across Avenue of Stars just in front of our hotel. We witness the Symphony of Light happening every night at 8pm there. It was fun.
  • That night after dinner(again, we cook for dinner) we had fun buying cosmetic stuffs in Sasa. Its damn cheap. Clinique stuffs all cheapo. Perfumes pun like 20-30% cheaper here. Bought few more things at Espirit.

Day 4 (7th March)
  • Today, we are crossing the border to Shenzhen, China.
  • Please apply for your visa in Malaysia. I got it for RM50(plus svc change and fees) per person. Door to door service.
  • We took the MTR from our hotel from East Tsim Tsha Shui to Lo Wu. It is a 30 minutes journey. Very easy.
  • When we reached there, no sight seeing pun. It was purely a shopping guilt trip. Right in front of the train station is a 7 storey Lo wu commercial centre selling basically everything that you can see being sell 300% more expensive in KL. If u have the money and wanna do business this is your 'lubuk'.
  • Branded bag imitation obviously grade yang AAA+++ jadah tuh only RM150-200. You name it, they got catalogue some more. Juling bijik mata tengok. I dun fall into it but had so much fun trying basically everything. Bought tonnes of baju for the kids and also crocs is only RM20 itupun x bargain ok. Seriously, boleh gila kat sini. Brooches and bracelet earings, jewellery mmg juling bijik mata. I almost fainted tgk how it is being sell. If not with Khazin and Khilfi who always wanting the attention I may lost all my money here. We dun even managed to snap picture as we are busy shopping. Nak massage pun murah kat sini.
  • Left dah petang yang amat, and just settle for dinner later at hotel. And make a quick run to the market to get some chicken and eggs.
Day 5( 8th March)
  • We are crossing HK island today. But since we are travellers and wanna venture into everything, we decided to take the bus to head to Stanley market. This place is like Ladies market but more nicer and prices slightly steep. Byk linen stuffs were sold here and it was cheap. Belilah dgn byk if you get a chance to go there. We took the bus as we wanna enjoy the scenary of HK island from Aberdeen toward stanley via Repulse bay. It was cold when we were in HK generally. We passed through Ocean park on the way to the market but we decided not to go to the park. Time are limited and banyak benda lagi nak tgk. kakakakakak...sebenarnya hat org2 besar sibuk nak sopping...
  • Stanley market mmg way nicer and organize. Art stuffs pun banyak. It is facing the Stanley beach and you will enjoy a great scenery there. We had lunch at Mc D in Stanley Plaza.
  • From Stanley Plaza we took the bus to the Central. This is where all the tall building whom took part during the Symphony of Light. Take a good look at the Bank of China and ITC building. Memang kewl and it was surrounded by all the famous boutique all over. Geram geram.
  • Then, its The Peak time. You can go up there using the Tram or the bus. It was kewl and beautiful. But when we where there, time was not on our side, it was all fogging. Funny, we cant get clearer view due to the fog. But the ride via the tram was super duper cool. We get down and took the bus again to the Star ferry pier.
  • One thing to note, all buses, trains and ferry in HK are super duper efficient. So mmg senang nak kemana. more on this later.
  • We took the ferry from Central to TST back for only HKD2. We stroll along Harbour city mall and walked back to our hotel.
Day 6(9th March)

  • Early starts heading to Ngong Ping 360, the famous cable car. Took the MTR from TST to Tung Chung, where we change station at Lai King.
  • Arrived Tung Chung and straight to Ngong Ping Cable car. It is a 30 minutes journey, covering 5.7km. Ngong Ping is already in Lantau area island, close to Disney. Gayat giller mak, tapi kewl. Mmg tinggi. It will goes across 5 peak. You can see the dam and airport very clear from up above. And u can see the largest sitting buddha in Asia. We spend like 2 hours there took picture and just sipping hot chocolate in the euro cafe. Sejuk ok, cakap pun keluar asap.
  • We get down using the bus as this is your chance to view lantau island. It was about 55 minutes ride.

  • Once we reached the station, time that I've been waiting for, the Citygate factory outlet. Before that we had beriani seafood at Food repucblic food court at the outlet. It is a halal indian booth.

  • Citygate factory outlet saw me came back empty handed. Not worth it sangat pun. Mahal ok. Stressakak. I come with harapan tinggi menggunung. But the guys enjoy borong stuffs at Polo.

  • Arrived city again about 6. Solat, and had tea as usual at room. And lepas maghrib, we stroll across Nathan road up till Jordan area. Bought more souvenirs along, and stress coz we found a stall selling HK tshirt at 6 for HKD100. Had more pit stop at Park Lane Boulevard trying some crocs but too bad takde size plak. Only reached the room around 11ish.

  • I have decided at this point not to buy the bag. Point to note, branded bags are on sale but price after sale are just the same as retail price in Malaysia. But you obviously can get it cheaper at ISA outlet, gucci, fendi, and prada at 30% off coz they outsource it direct from Europe. Cuma, my bad, the one that i like takde pulak. stress akak.
Last day, Day 7(10th March)
  • Our flight was reshceduled. MAS dah call bagitau. So we had more time to shop and explore the shop this morning.
  • Had another round along Nathan road, buying last minutes stuffs. Another visit to Espirit and Bossini. Giller kaya tokey esprit dek penangan kami kot. :P ladies long sleeve shirt as cheap as RM25 ok.
  • We went to the airpot in the afternoon. Checked in and makan kat Popeyes. Popeye ni halal so belasah makan ayam dengan hebat.
  • Then menghabiskan HKD in Disneyland sourvenir shop.
  • We board the plane around 3pm.
Overall, it was marvellous trip. Both Khazin and Nina are doing good. Khilfi pun obviously estatic with his Mickey and after disney trip mmg still happy as he keep on seeing the video that we take. That keep him happy for the whole trip. I am happy coz I can get everyone on board, both my families and my KT clanz. Everyone enjoy it. We all do have so much fun and cam whoring. My dad is happy and pening with us prolly. :P I enjoy our makan time cooking all the dishes using our rice cooker. Thank you my 3 sisters for cooking . :P
