cooking tahap dewa part 2

Tuesday, November 22, 2005

My mind is already at the bookshop that I am going to 'serang' in 30 mins time. So, I will leave u with this gravy recipe, especially for u kak zira.

The gravy
Note: I normally made this gravy as All Purpose Gravy. But it serve right for your mash potatoes or even ur chicken chop/roast and etc.

Ingredients:-
4 cups of water (depends on how much gravy u wanna have)
4-5 table spoon flour (i am not very sure of the right amount of flour akak, but u can ammend this according to the thickness of the gravy that u like)
4 cloves of garlic
1-2 spoonful of butter(for frying)
black pepper
2-3 spoon of kicap habhals (or whatever soy sauce that u like)
salt/sugar (secukup rasa)
oyster sauce/tomato sauce (secukup rasa)

Well, first sauteed the garlic with butter in the pots. Then just put the mix of flour and water. Stir well. And later, add in the soy sauce and pepper(a lot) to get the spicy and brownish black kaler as per your KFC-wannabe gravy. If its not thick enuff, u can add tad bit of corn flour. U can add the salt, sugar and maybe tad bit of tomato and oyster sauce just to give more perisa to it. I also will add a sliced button mushroom to give more zest to it.

Note(2): This recipe suits the tastebuds of The Kek's clan. U may ammend it accordingly as I actually do not have the right amount of stuffs to out on each of the steps. I normally campak2 everything to get the final look. But what I already post above, can serve as a basic guideline.

If u wanna do a white sauce, ala-ala Chilies gravy, do not add the soy /oyster/tomato sauce at all, but add more butter and tad bit of cheese in it. Whola!

The mashed potatoes
And additional bonus, to do ur mashed potatoes. Boil 3-4 potatoes(i usually prefer the russet). Cleanse it first, peel the skin, i sometimes dont bother to peel it at all, then boiled it. Then once it is soft enought to mash put it aside. Mashed it in a pot, the put it on the fire again. Pour 1-2 cup of cream/fresh milk, fresh cut of oregano or any herbs that u like, then a good amount of butter. Put in freshly ground pepper and also a salt for seasoning. And there you go your mashed potato ready to be with the gravy.

Bonus #2: deep fried crispy chicken
Quick and easy chicken crispy. Just bought chicken fillet for a tray from giant. Wash well. Sprinkle salt for seasoning. Dip into an egg and then coated it with the flour and deep fried. So there u go a perfect meal. Chicken, mash potatoes and all puspose gravy. To give more balance, steamed some brocoli, carrot and cauliflower. U can have a nice complete meal at home.

hah, mula2 nak bagi resipi gravy dah jadi macam2 resipi plak. Have fun at trying it peeps.

and again a gentle reminder:-This recipe suits the tastebuds of The Kek's clan. U may ammend it accordingly as I actually do not have the right amount of stuffs to out on each of the steps. I normally campak2 everything to get the final look. But what I already post above, can serve as a basic guideline.
